Ecclesiastes 9:13-10:20 “Use Wisdom in Politics and Life!”

This passage, as does all of Ecclesiastes, teaches, rebukes, corrects and trains us in righteousness by encouraging us to use wisdom in politics and daily life.

Unfortunately, we don’t have to look very far for examples of politicians who haven’t been wise, especially on the opposing side. It’s harder for us to admit when someone on our political team is being foolish and even harder still to admit when we are.

Here’s the thing: it doesn’t take much foolishness to undo a history of success. For those in leadership we’re only as successful as our last last comment. One day we might be everyone’s hero and the next we’re thrown under the bus.

Politics and life can be fickle things. A person might have great wisdom and potential to do good but then they make one mistake and it’s all undone. So the call in this passage isn’t to quit but to be even more diligent about using wisdom, especially in politics, but also in our walk and in our talk.
